Klapøjster Mjød

With the emergence of schnapps towards the end of the Middle Ages, the practice of mixing mead and schnapps became widespread. The highly popular drink went by many names, all depending on the Danish region where it was drunk.

In southern Jutland, it was known as Klapøjster, the dialect word for somersault and also the name of this mead, to which aquavit obviously has been added.
